A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND SERVICE OF MR. DALTON LAKE HYDE AS ELECTION COMMISSIONER.

WHEREAS, Dalton Lake Hyde was born near Coffeeville, Mississippi, in Yalobusha County on June 29, 1924, to his parents, Frank Lester Hyde and Madge Pittman Hyde; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hyde attended Scuna Valley School through junior high and then moved to Water Valley, Mississippi, where he graduated from Water Valley High School in 1943; and

WHEREAS, marrying Ruth Williams on October 17, 1948, the couple was blessed with two children, David Lake Hyde and Ruth Ellen Hyde; and

WHEREAS, before his retirement in 1972, Mr. Hyde was employed by Life and Casualty Insurance Company as an agent; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hyde was an active member of his community as a member of First Baptist Church in Water Valley where he served as a Sunday School teacher and a deacon, and was a member of the Water Valley Lions Club; and

WHEREAS, in his spare time, Mr. Hyde, an avid sportsman, loved hunting, fishing and attending a variety of sporting events; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hyde, who was appointed Election Commissioner on April 1, 1964, by Governor Paul B. Johnson, Jr., served the citizens of Yalobusha County, Mississippi, to the best of his ability in carrying out his duties as Election Commissioner for many years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hyde departed this life on June 29, 1998, causing great loss to his family, friends and community:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life and accomplishments of Mr. Dalton Lake Hyde and extend our appreciation for his many years of service to Yalobusha County, Mississippi, as Election Commissioner.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Dalton Lake Hyde and the Capitol Press Corps.
